I first discovered my love for finance at Lamar University, in Beaumont, Texas. My dad said I would be a great finance major, and boy, was he right.

After graduation, I firmly believed that I could make a massive difference in people's lives financially, so I joined an investment banking firm. I spent long hours cold calling prospective clients, and I was thriving, but the people I wanted to help were not. This was not working for me.

So, I joined a startup stock market analysis computer company that would let the same people I had wanted to help use their computers to make their own investment decisions. This way, I could hopefully help them and stay true to my goal of helping people do better financially. My friend and colleague from the investment firm joined me. We grew the startup to a nice-sized public company. Then we used these tools to develop our portfolios and traded them for clients using several strategies we successfully pioneered throughout the '90s. Then with some additional efforts, we built and managed several hedge fund strategies using different vehicles, including futures, options, commodities, equities, and even mutual funds.

After my daughter was born, I moved out to Chappell Hill, Texas, and let my friend take over the company. I planned to raise my family and manage my investments. At 32 years of age, I thought this was a perfect life but found it did not satisfy my driving force to help people do better financially. So I decided to go back to work for one of the big firms shortly after that and realized that the firm's size does not necessarily mean good advice for the client.

Six years later, my wife and I decided we could help people better as an independent firm. And thus, Malloch Wealth Management was formed. Here we apply the knowledge that I had learned from working for a big firm to the individual investor to create for clients a clear, disciplined strategy to help grow, harvest, and help protect one's wealth.
